When Internet marketers talk about their business, they often use the term "niche marketing." What is a niche -- and how do you find yours?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, a special area of demand for a product or service. To find yours, ask yourself these questions:

"What do I know about?"

"What are my interests?"

"What can I share with people?"

What answers did you come up with? Think outside the box—the box of Internet marketing, that is. How can what you do in your job—your hobbies, your pastimes—be communicated to others? Did you know that:

Ralph Wilson, a noted Internet marketing expert, is also a pastor who publishes Bible studies as e-books...

Kris Mainieri, a successful affiliate marketer, started out by publishing a "plain talk" guide to PC security and optimization, based on his experience as a computer technician...

Jay Jennings, who writes tools for Internet marketers, also sells products that tie in to his years of practice as a magician and juggler...

You don't even have to be an expert in the field that you write about! As I write in $7 Secrets, "There’s not a 'how to' book written in the world that contains information you can’t get for free somewhere else. The question is: how long would it take you to find it all? People buy 'how to' books because they want it all in front of them in one nice, easy package." You can take what you know and supplement and enhance it by doing a little bit of research on the Internet, then package it so your prospect doesn't have to do all the work.

(Another little secret: you can purchase a Private Label Rights product that's related to your niche, then edit it to fit your style and put your own name on it. Cuts your development time in half or more.)

So, think again about your areas of interest and expertise. Are you a gardener, a musician, or a collector? Do you like to crochet, cook, or build things? How can you help other teachers/sales people/writers/etc. by communicating your experiences and strengths?

You have a story to tell, so let it out! Find your niche and the profits will follow.
