iOS Syncs in Background

I hadn't noticed this before, nor had I seen it mentioned anywhere else, but it appears that syncing your iOS device no longer prevents you from using it while the sync is happening.

I hadn't synced my iPad since upgrading to iOS 5 and hadn't yet turned on the sync over Wi-Fi feature; when I plugged it in just now to sync, I was momentarily confused because it didn't tell me it was syncing. Looking at the status bar, however, I noticed the rotating arrows indicating a sync was in progress. Although I'll be syncing over Wi-Fi in the future, this is a nice touch for users who haven't cut the cord.
