Direct Mail 3.5 Adds Unsubscribe Syncing

Direct Mail 3.5 Adds Unsubscribe Syncing

Direct Mail 3.5, released earlier this month, adds syncing of unsubscribes back to Daylite. In previous versions, when a subscriber unsubscribed from your list there would be no indication of that within Daylite. Now, the subscriber will be moved to an “Unsubscribes” sub-group of the Group that is synced with Direct Mail.

Daylite Status Board Panels

Daylite Status Board Panels

Last week’s release of Status Board [iOS; $10] brought a flurry of activity on all fronts as users came up with a bevy of ways to use the iPad dashboard app to consolidate and display disparate sets of data. Within days someone asked about Daylite integration and so–without further ado–I’m pleased to announce the availability of Daylite Status Board Panels!

An Overview of Direct Mail 3

An Overview of Direct Mail 3

Daylite 4 is designed for one-on-one email communications with your clients, but there are plenty of times you’ll want to send out mass mailings to keep your entire client base–or select portions of it–apprised of what you’re doing. For example, you may want to send out a regular newsletter or a brief product or service announcement. Although you can do this within Daylite, there are some limitations which will make using another piece of software much more desirable.

Date Formats in Daylite 4 Reports

Date Formats in Daylite 4 Reports

As I was creating a report in Daylite today, I was attempting to format a date and I got some, well, interesting results as I tried different formatting strings. It quickly became clear that Daylite 4 doesn’t use the same NSCalendarDate formats that Billings uses. And as I began to map the symbols myself it appeared that there was overlap between some symbols while some formats seemed to be missing.

Sharing Your Calendar with Non-Daylite Users

Sharing Your Calendar with Non-Daylite Users
Many Daylite users would like to share their Daylite calendar with non-Daylite users; however, Daylite only provides one mechanism for this: an authenticated, CalDAV feed. Presumably Marketcircle did not provide the older iCalendar (iCal) format for two reasons:

  • It’s not authenticated and as such could be a privacy issue.
  • CalDAV is a more recent standard and the future of iCalendar is uncertain.

Upgrading Daylite from an Older Mac

Upgrading Daylite from an Older Mac
Woo-hoo! Daylite 4.1 has been released, bringing with it a ton of bug fixes and enhancements.

You might, as I did, find yourself upgrading from Daylite 3 to Daylite 4 at the same time you change your Mac that’s running Daylite Server. I’d been using DLS on a PowerMac running Leopard (10.5), but the minimum requirement for DL4 is Lion (10.7), thus the upgrade needed to happen on the new machine.

Daylite Mail Notifications

Daylite Mail Notifications
Some of my clients actually notify me by email when they need my services, rather than calling me on the phone. The trouble is, if I’m out on the road it may be hours before I see the message and that could mean the difference between getting back to them today or next Monday.

Adding Tasks to Daylite Using Siri

Adding Tasks to Daylite Using Siri
An exciting new feature has just been pushed out in Daylite 4.1 (now in beta):

Added support for Tasks through the “Reminders” app in iOS and on Mountain Lion. This feature is automatically turned on when you enable calendar sharing via CalDAV. You can add to and edit your inbox and worklist. You cannot manage or add other lists. You should continue to manage your tasks in Daylite on Mac or iOS. Use this feature for quick access and quick entry.

Secondary Google Calendars in Daylite

Secondary Google Calendars in Daylite
Daylite 4 allows you to subscribe to external calendars like Google Calendar (although only as read-only), but it only shows the primary calendar for the account. While in iCal you can go to the Delegation tab for the Google account and check off which calendars to show, in Daylite you won’t get those secondary calendars.
